Copenhagen By Bus

Copenhagen is a small city with various modes of transport. You can get around Copenhagen and the surrounding areas quite easily by train, metro, bus, taxi, and bicycle. The areas are divided into 9 zones which are colour coded so you can see how much it costs to travel from zone to zone.

Buses

There are plenty of buses to choose from. They are useful for long or short trips in and around Copenhagen and the surrounding towns and cities. There are also buses from Copenhagen to cities such as Odense on the island of Funen, and Aalborg and Aarhus on Jutland. Local buses are available 24 hours a day, and include night buses.

Night buses are called N buses and are available from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.  There is no difference in the fare on the night buses.

Some buses stop at the Central Station, but in different locations. Others stop at City Hall (Rådhuspladsen). They include 10, 14, 18, 26, 30, 33, 40, and 66. Buses 10 and 14 stop behind the Central Station and drive to areas just outside the city. Some buses do not come to the City, but can be reached through bus, train and Metro connections. Buses 22, 36, 71, 72, 73 and 74 drive to areas on Amager – the area connected to Copenhagen by the bridges Langebro and Knippelsbro, and other suburbs of Copenhagen.

The harbour buses sail on the waters around Copenhagen and are very popular for trips to Langelinie (home of the Little Mermaid), the Opera House and other popular spots in Copenhagen. The fare is the same as that on regular buses.

Harbour Bus Copenhagen

Bus 26 stops by the Central station on the side with the large clock, and is frequently used by tourists to go to Langelinie, UNICEF, Færgehavn, Indiakaj and the cruise ships. Check with the bus driver and look at the information at the bus stop to ensure that you take the correct 26 bus since it stops at different locations in Østerbro.
